Inaugural Fall NASCAR Race Weekend Debuts in Las Vegas

Following years of efforts to bring a second NASCAR race to Las Vegas, the sport’s top drivers will return Sept. 13-16 for the inaugural Fall NASCAR Race Weekend. The event weekend includes the inaugural South Point 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoff race, the DC Solar 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race, the World of Westgate 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series playoff race and the Star Nursery 100 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at The Dirt Track. The Cup Series race will be the first race of the playoffs for the top 16 drivers, and Las Vegas is the only track with two triple-header weekends on the NASCAR schedule. In addition to the action on the track, the weekend will include a NASCAR Burnout Boulevard event on the Las Vegas strip, NASCAR playoffs party downtown on the Fremont Street Experience, and a free concert by Cole Swindell.

Electra Cocktail Club to Open in Early September

The Palazzo Las Vegas introduces Electra Cocktail Club. A collision of energy and style, Electra embodies a dynamic scene where cocktail creations challenge the limits of tradition in an atmosphere that exudes an escapist, kinetic vibe. Electra completes The Venetian Cocktail Collective, comprised of the sophisticated Dorsey, the romantic Rosina and now the inventive Electra. The Collective represents the evolution of nightlife in Las Vegas. Electra’s backbar features a diverse selection of spirits with a focus on rums, agricoles, and mezcals. Like the menus at The Dorsey and Rosina, Electra’s offerings were conceived by noted barman Sam Ross and feature cocktails that are both imaginative and playful with a bend toward the tropical.

Waldorf Astoria Debuts on Las Vegas Strip

Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas, formerly Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas, debuted on the Las Vegas Strip on August 31. Discerning guests will find the ultimate in non-gaming comfort and luxury, including elegant guest rooms and suites featuring stunning views, exceptional restaurants, a luxurious spa and True Waldorf Service, including signature personal concierges. A guest room restyle is scheduled for summer 2019.

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas Debuts Block 16 Urban Food Hall

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is thrilled to announce the recent opening of Block 16 Urban Food Hall. A first of its kind on the Las Vegas Strip, the made-to-order, fast-casual concept features a dynamic lineup of restaurants handpicked from foodie capitals across the U.S. Block 16 Urban Food Hall continues to reinforce The Cosmopolitan as a culinary leader, unifying the country’s most sought-after chefs and eateries, introducing them first-to-market and providing a place for locals and visitors alike to celebrate their shared passions of easy to love food and drink. Located on the second level of the Boulevard Tower, Block 16 Urban Food Hall introduces an emerging class of acclaimed chefs and their distinct culinary creations, including District: Donuts. La La Noodle Coming to Park MGM This Fall

Park MGM adds to its portfolio of original restaurants with La La Noodle, a new concept, debuting this November. Serving authentic Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai cuisine, La La Noodle will be a casual destination where guests will enjoy a lively yet relaxed atmosphere while savoring a selection of noodle, seafood, meat, vegetable and rice dishes. Named after the Mandarin term for pulled – 拉 (pronounced lah) – La La Noodle will feature familiar and savory hand-pulled noodle dishes such as Pork Belly Noodles and Chicken Chow Mein, as well as regional delicacies such as Hong Kong Seafood Crispy Noodles with shrimp, scallops and squid. In addition to noodles, mouthwatering entrées will round out the menu including Vietnamese Braised Catfish, served in a clay pot with fish sauce, chiles and garlic.

The Factory Kitchen Opening in Las Vegas

FactoryPlaceHospitalityGroup and The Venetian Las Vegas recently announced plans to open The Factory Kitchen at The Venetian in December 2018. The Factory Kitchen is the product of a long-standing friendship between Matteo Ferdinandi, CEO of FactoryPlaceHospitalityGroup and Chef Angelo Auriana. Ferdinandi and Auriana share the vision of imparting their Italian roots and memories through food and hospitality.

SLS Las Vegas Integrates the W Hotel at SLS Las Vegas Into Full Resort Experience

SLS Las Vegas recently announced the W Hotel at SLS Las Vegas was integrated into the full resort operation and called The Grand Tower. Additionally, SLS Las Vegas assumed full operational control of the resort’s reservations system from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and the SLS Las Vegas brand will discontinue membership as a Starwood Tribute Portfolio Hotel & Resort. The Grand Tower will continue as a Four Diamond experience for guests. Existing reservations for the W Las Vegas past the August 17 date of operational transfer will be honored. SLS Las Vegas also assumed operation of the Spa, Pool, Lounge and Meetings Space located within the Tower’s footprint. Current W Hotel at SLS Las Vegas team members have been invited to stay on with their employment either transferring to SLS Las Vegas or continuing with Marriott, the parent company of Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

Aerosmith Announces Las Vegas Residency at Park Theater at Park MGM

America’s all-time top-selling rock ‘n’ roll band, Aerosmith, is bringing the heat to the Las Vegas Strip with their headlining residency, AEROSMITH: DEUCES ARE WILD. Shows begin Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Park Theater at the new Park MGM resort. Aerosmith’s Las Vegas residency, promoted by Live Nation and MGM Resorts International, will bring fans face to face with America’s Greatest Rock ‘N’ Roll band in one of the most immersive, state-of-the art audio and video technology experiences in Las Vegas. Fremont Street Experience to Begin Renovation of Viva Vision Canopy in February 2019

Fremont Street Experience will begin its $32 million renovation of Viva Vision, the world’s largest single video screen located in historic downtown Las Vegas, February 2019. Spanning five city blocks above one of the most vibrant streets in Las Vegas, the upgraded Viva Vision canopy will illuminate the pedestrian mall with 16,433,152 pixels and 5,000 Nits, making it seven-times brighter than the existing canopy with four-times the resolution. In partnership with the city of Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, renovations to the iconic, city-owned Viva Vision canopy will be completed for the unveiling on Dec. 31, 2019.

Team-Based Virtual Reality Adventure Opens Labor Day Weekend at Madame Tussaud

This Labor Day, Madame Tussauds Las Vegas is challenging friends, families and co-workers to “Be a Hero” in the city’s newest team-based virtual reality adventure. HISTORY, Nitro Circus and Caesars Palace Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Evel Knievel’s Legendary Jump
HISTORY, Nitro Circus and Caesars Palace have partnered for, “Evel Live,” an unprecedented three-hour live event airing on Sunday, July 8 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on HISTORY. “Evel Live” will see motorsports superstar Travis Pastrana pay tribute to Evel Knievel, the founding father of motorcycle stunts, and aim to the push the limits even farther than the American icon. Caesars Palace, world-famous home of memorable moments in both sports and entertainment and the site of Evel Knievel’s legendary fountain jump 50 years ago, will host the grand finale jump, both for a national TV audience and a packed Las Vegas crowd.

Japanese Artist Kisho Mwkaiyama Displays New Artwork at BellagioResort & Casino
Notable Japanese artist Kisho Mwkaiyama begins work on a new artwork, “Vendarta 100: Six Elements and The Seasons,” in a temporary public studio at Bellagio Resort & Casino. From June 29 through January 2019, Mwkaiyama will work on a commissioned artwork comprised of 24 square gouache paintings. The artist studio space is located next to Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art and features a guest lounge for viewing and learning more about Mwkaiyama’s artistic practice.

After beginning their inaugural season with two games on the road, the Las Vegas Aces celebrated their home opener on Sunday, May 27 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. OPIUM Premieres at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
During the galactic premiere of OPIUM on April 8, the crew of the Orbital People Mover 4.2 (OPM 4.2) blasted off on their inaugural interplanetary flight from the planet Uranus, successfully landing at the OPIUM Theatre at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Earth. On its maiden voyage, the starship’s passengers were treated to a stellar performance by an irreverent ensemble crew of fools, many showcasing their peculiar talents – from sword swallowing and singing, to feats of danger, wonder, extreme athleticism, and more. The thrilling, at-capacity premiere flight was met with wild applause and a standing ovation by the ship’s passengers upon touchdown. The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas Displays One of the World’s Oldest Gondolas
The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas are celebrating the spirit of Venice with a new seasonal display that features one of the world’s oldest Venetian gondolas. The historic gondola, thought to be constructed around 1850, is considered by experts to be one of the best surviving examples of Venetian gondolas from that time period. The impressive specimen spans 36 feet and is nearly 5 feet wide. The original 1800s furniture is still featured on the gondola, as well as the etched glass windows and hardware. To commemorate the artifact’s arrival to the resort, the gondola is displayed among a collection of hundreds of flowers in the atrium gardens, affording great “Instagrammable moments” around the gondola.

Zappos and Caesars Entertainment Announce Partnership recently announced that it is teaming up with Caesars Entertainment, beginning with the renaming of The AXIS, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino’s world-class 7,000-seat state-of-the-art live entertainment venue. As part of the multi-year partnership, officials from both Zappos and Caesars revealed the theater will now be known as Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
MGM Resorts and Sydell Group Reveal Pool Oasis at Park MGM in Las Vegas
MGM Resorts International and New York-based Sydell Group have debuted the new pool oasis at the much-anticipated Park MGM. Channeling the sundrenched South of France, the vibrant outdoor escape features three pools, an oversized heated spa, 12 cabanas, lounge areas and multiple bars serving up delicious bites and beverages. Guests can mingle among friends at one of three pools – the South Pool, the East Pool or the North Pool – while lively music evokes a cool, laid-back vibe. Martin Brudnizki Design Studio drew inspiration from the natural surroundings of a country estate, incorporating layered horticulture to shape each pool space.
In addition to chaises throughout the deck area, each pool boasts Baja shelf seating and submerged wet decks, allowing guests to sunbathe while staying cool. Those seeking an elevated experience can upgrade to the VIP area by the East Pool, where they’ll find deluxe cushioned chaises.

Palms Casino Resort and Live Nation present GRAMMY-nominated trio blink-182’s first-ever Las Vegas rock residency “Kings of the Weekend” at the newly renovated Pearl Concert Theater. The 16-show run, which begins May 26 with dates through November, is one of the resort’s first major entertainment collaborations as part of the recently announced $620 million property-wide overhaul. Las Vegas Monorail Unveils Mobile Ticketing with Google Pay
The Las Vegas Monorail Company announced the launch of virtual transit ticketing with the new Google Pay app for Android phones. The Monorail now offers riders the ability to quickly and easily purchase fares online and use their phone at the fare gates for immediate transit access to everything along the Las Vegas Strip. It is the first transit system in the world to fully integrate their ticketing system with Google Pay using MIFARE contactless technology. With just a few clicks, Monorail customers can now purchase and save tickets using their credit and debit cards or PayPal account linked to Google Pay with the security of Google encryption. Once customers arrive at the Monorail station, they simply tap their phone on the fare gate and ride.
The Comedy Lineup debuts at Harrah’s Las Vegas
Tom Green and John Caparulo will take the stage when The Comedy Lineup debuts in the Harrah’s Showroom at Harrah’s Las Vegas in May. Incorporating videos and music into his set, Tom Green engages the audience the minute he hits the stage, delivering laughs with every poignant observation. Las Vegas 51s Slide into Home for New Season
The Las Vegas 51s, professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, will swing into the regular season this month with a five-game homestand against the El Paso Chihuahuas starting Thursday, April 5 at Cashman Field. In its 36th season in Southern Nevada, the 70-game home season will feature various promotional nights, including the traditional firework shows presented at every Friday “home” game (and a Fireworks Extravaganza on Tuesday, July 3), Dollar Beer Nights, Jersey giveaway nights and more. Additionally, eight times this season the team will take the field as the Las Vegas Reyes de Plata (“Silver Kings”), as part of a new multi-cultural fan engagement platform. Reyes de Plata celebrates the city and state’s pioneering history at the forefront of the precious metal mining business that continues to define the Silver State today.

Las Vegas Lights FC Make Regular Season Debut This Month
Las Vegas’ newest professional sports team, the United Soccer League (USL)’s Las Vegas Lights FC, will kick off its first regular season match on Saturday, March 17 on the road against Fresno FC. On Saturday, March 24, at 8 p.m. the Lights’ first regular season home match will double as the birth of an in-state rivalry as the team hosts Reno 1868 FC at Cashman Field. The Lights will finish the month with another home match on Saturday, March 31, against the Swope Park Rangers.
Marriott International and Witkoff to Open The Drew Las Vegas
Marriott International, Inc. and global development firm Witkoff recently announced a plan to open a new resort at 2755 Las Vegas Boulevard South, formerly known as the Fontainebleau. Ushering in a new era of world-class hospitality, the integrated resort and casino to be named The Drew Las Vegas will debut the EDITION brand in Las Vegas and mark The Strip’s first JW Marriott. Anticipated to open in late 2020, the resort will feature nearly 4,000 rooms and suites as well as over 500,000 square feet of convention and meeting space. Once open, the hotels will be managed by Marriott International. Two Blackbirds Hospitality, led by renowned hotelier and former Cosmopolitan CEO John Unwin, will oversee the launch and operations of The Drew Las Vegas. As an integrated resort, The Drew Las Vegas will be home to a broad offering including a casino, luxury hotels, together with convention facilities, entertainment, nightlife, retail and dining curated into one cohesive guest experience.
Las Vegas 51s Break Ground on New Stadium
The Las Vegas 51s recently broke ground on a new facility, Las Vegas Ballpark, in Downtown Summerlin. The team will play its final season at Cashman Field this year, and is expected to move to the new facility in time for the 2019 season.
Harrah’s Las Vegas Completes $140 Million Renovation, Celebrates 80th Anniversary of Brand
Harrah’s Las Vegas has completed a $140 million transformation, which includes 1,622 modern new guest rooms and suites in its Valley Tower. Pairing seven-day-a-week free, live entertainment with a new lobby bar and casino floor, Harrah’s Las Vegas offers the best value at the center of the Strip. The new look comes as Harrah’s celebrates 80 years as a premier gaming brand. This latest redesign follows the renovation of 672 guest rooms and suites on the south side of the tower in 2016, resulting in a completely refreshed Valley Tower at the beloved Caesars Entertainment resort. The easily accessible Harrah’s Las Vegas is steps away from various Las Vegas landmarks and attractions and is a stop on the Las Vegas Monorail line.
Neon Museum Debuts “Brilliant!”
The Neon Museum recently debuted “Brilliant!”—an audiovisual immersion experience that uses technology advances to reanimate 40 monumental examples of the museum’s iconic vintage signs. Presented after dark in the Neon Museum’s North Gallery, “Brilliant!” was created by digital artist and designer Craig Winslow using projection mapping to arrive at a shared augmented reality experience. Earth Water Sky served as the system designer and integrator. To guests immersed in the 30-minute experience, the unrestored, non-working and in some cases broken signs will appear to be suddenly re-electrified, as though by magic, before their eyes. Up to 50 guests at a time will be transported directly into Las Vegas’ history, where the static signs come to life while accompanied by music from some of the entertainment industry’s most storied performers.
Pronto by Giada Now Open at Caesars Palace
Celebrated chef, author and television personality, Giada De Laurentiis, has officially opened her second restaurant, Pronto by Giada, at Caesars Palace. Guests can now take a quick bite of the good life with De Laurentiis’ signature California-Italian fare but in a fast, casual format. All Pronto dishes are made in an abbreviated time, perfect for guests on the go or those looking for a leisurely bite. Once guests receive their dishes, a variety of seating is available from counter and bar seating to casual lounging.
The Mob Museum Debuts Major Renovation
The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, debuted its major first-floor renovation, which includes a brand-new exhibition space called Organized Crime Today, focusing on the modernization and evolution of organized crime in the present day. Two new experiential spaces include the Use of Force Training Experience and Crime Lab, which join the Museum’s already robust experiential platform, focusing on methods employed by law enforcement to apprehend and prosecute criminals and their organizations. These new exhibits and experiences represent the first phase of the Museum’s largest capital improvement project since opening on February 14, 2012. The final phase of the Museum’s renovation and expansion will be completed this April with the opening of the enhanced Prohibition history exhibition, The Underground, which will include a working speakeasy and distillery.
South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa Unveils $40 Million Renovation of Guest Rooms
South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa unveiled a $40 million remodel plan to its guest rooms throughout the property’s three towers, which includes 2,049 rooms and 84 suites featuring new furniture, luxury flooring, crown molding, mini refrigerator and bathroom upgrades. The first phase of the redesign, which will begin in April of 2018, will be completed by September 2018, with 100 rooms currently on sale for reservations beginning in May 2018 at the South Point Hotel website. The three-year project will refurbish one hotel tower each year and is scheduled to be completed by September 2020. By the end of 2018, more than 630 newly designed rooms will be available for guests for a $10 upgraded room fee. The guest rooms offer a refreshed look with new Bernhardt furniture, such as beds, dressers, night stands, chairs, sitting tables, and lounge chairs with an ottoman. In addition, the guest rooms offer lamps with power and USB ports, functional desks for business executives and a new color palette.
Tape Face to Debut New Residency at Harrah’s Las Vegas
After two successful limited engagements in 2017, modern-day mime and comedian Tape Face is returning to Las Vegas. The “America’s Got Talent” alumnus has announced a multi-year residency at Harrah’s Las Vegas, beginning Friday, March 16 at 7 p.m. PST. Although his show contains no dialogue, his return to Sin City will be louder than ever. In conjunction with his new show, Harrah’s Las Vegas will premiere a uniquely customized theater for Tape Face’s return called “House of Tape.” An intimate, 200-seat venue, the brand-new showroom will be easily accessible from Harrah’s main gaming floor.

Wynn Las Vegas Introduces Solar Energy Facility
Wynn Las Vegas will power its multi-use development, Paradise Park, with 100 percent renewable energy sourced from a new 160-acre solar energy facility, making it one of the most environmentally conscious planned developments in Las Vegas. Under the terms of the agreement with Enel Green Power North America, Inc. (EGPNA), Wynn Las Vegas will begin receiving power in the first half of 2018 which will be used to offset up to seventy-five percent of the resort’s current peak power requirements until Paradise Park opens. MGM Resorts Selects ‘Las Vegas Aces’ as New Name for WNBA Franchise
MGM Resorts International recently announced that its WNBA franchise will be called the Las Vegas Aces. Las Vegas’ first major professional basketball team – formerly the San Antonio Stars – will begin play in its new home in the 2018 season. Las Vegas Aces President of Basketball Operations and Head Coach Bill Laimbeer was joined by MGM Resorts President Bill Hornbuckle and WNBA President Lisa Borders to reveal the team’s name and logo at a news conference at Mandalay Bay.
Frank Sinatra’s Granddaughter AJ Lambert Launches Monthly Las Vegas Residency
For the first time ever, multi-talented songstress and Frank Sinatra’s granddaughter, AJ Lambert will perform in Las Vegas with a monthly residency at The Space beginning Friday, Jan. 12. AJ will rotate between performing two of her grandfather’s albums – the 1955 pioneering concept album “In The Wee Small Hours,” as well as his 1958 album, “Only The Lonely.” In this show, AJ shares her deeply intimate recollections of her grandfather Frank Sinatra, as only she can, while singing the iconic albums in their entirety with a voice all her own. The stripped-down presentation of Nelson Riddle’s classic arrangements (with piano accompaniment by John Boswell) allows for a rare opportunity for intimacy with these incredible pieces of American music. Whether you know the albums by heart or always wanted to know more, this show makes for a very rewarding evening.
LAS RAGEOUS Music Festival Returns to Downtown Las Vegas
After a successful debut in 2017, which drew rock and metal fans from around the world with sellout crowds of 10,000 each day, Las Rageous returns for its second year on Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21. Legendary music group Earth, Wind & Fire announced a very special limited engagement at The Venetian Theatre inside The Venetian® Las Vegas. China Lights Festival Coming to Craig Ranch Regional Park
The Sichuan Tianyu Culture Communication Co. Ltd., in cooperation with Zigong City and the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce, recently announced that world-class China Lights lantern festival will debut in North Las Vegas as part of a cultural trade mission. From Jan. 19 through Feb. 25, Craig Ranch Regional Park will be illuminated with 40 larger-than-life lantern displays, comprised of more than 1,000 components using state-of-the-art LEDs and animation. The festival will also include cultural demonstrations and displays, traditional Asian and western dining options, and nightly live stage entertainment.  For the inaugural year, Boyd Gaming will be the exclusive gaming sponsor, with opportunities for other local businesses to sponsor the lanterns throughout the exhibit.

Renegades Debuts at Cleopatra’s Barge at Caesars Palace
The rebels of sports are taking over the Las Vegas Strip with Renegades, a new interactive and totally unique show. Opening Thursday, Jan. 25 inside Cleopatra’s Barge, the intimate 180-seat theater at Caesars Palace, Renegades gives sports fans an up-close and personal experience with three of their favorite sports stars. The starting line-up includes baseball great Jose Canseco and two-time Super Bowl champion Jim McMahon. The Fab Five’s Jimmy King will appear during the first eight shows, with six-time NFL Pro Bowler Terrell Owens taking over starting Thursday, Feb. 8. The shows will be hosted by comedian Martin Montana, and its roster will rotate athletes every three months.
